Kamala Devi Meher is a master weaver from Sonepur, one of the oldest weaving towns in western Odisha. She comes from a family of Ikat weavers who have practised the traditional bandhha (resist-dyeing) technique for generations.

Her sarees are woven on traditional pit looms using the Ikat technique — individual threads are resist-dyed before weaving. The design emerges through the interlocking of pre-dyed warp and weft. Her signature motif is the Shankha-Chakra in deep crimson and gold.
